OZ Minerals’ Prominent Hill Emergency Response Team took out the Best Overall Team at the recently held 2014 Mines Emergency Response competition over the weekend.

Today, OZ Minerals presented an update on the Carrapateena resource and nearby discoveries at the ‘2013 SA Exploration and Mining Conference’.
The Carrapateena project and mineralisation discovered at Khamsin and Fremantle Doctor are all located in the Stuart Shelf region of the Gawler Craton. South Australia’s Gawler Craton also hosts Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill.

OZ Minerals announced today that Executive General Manager Mick Wilkes has accepted an exciting new role as CEO of the Australian based gold mining company OceanaGold Corporation and will be leaving OZ Minerals at the end of the year.
Managing Director and CEO of OZ Minerals Terry Burgess said, “We congratulate Mick on attaining his new role and wish him well in this important move in his career. On Thursday 28 October at Prominent Hill eight members of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands community graduated from the Award Winning* OZ Minerals Pre-Employment Training Program and were formally recognised in their new mining industry roles.

Industry qualifications, through this program, have now been gained by 51 local and Indigenous graduates and 40 of these graduates are still working at Prominent Hill. Continue reading
Cairn Hill – Pit1, first blast, shot being loaded, with drilled ground and partial mining fleet in background
Miner, IMX Resources Limited (ASX:IXR) is pleased to announce that the first blast of ore has occurred at its Cairn Hill Phase 1 magnetite – copper – gold mine in South Australia and the mine is now in production.
IMX has been pre-stripping the first pit for four months for construction material for the ROM and laydown pads. To date approximately 380,000 bcm of material has been moved. The top of the orebody adjacent to the trial mine in Pit 1 has been exposed, drilled and blasted. This first blast comprises approximately 40,000 tonnes of ore. Continue reading
OZ Minerals Limited and IMX Resources Limited have signed a binding Heads of Agreement with the intention of forming a Joint Venture Agreement to explore for and develop copper-gold projects on IMX’s Mt Woods tenements in South Australia. These tenements are largely contiguous with OZ Minerals tenements, which include its Prominent Hill mine. IMX will retain the rights to any predominantly iron ore discoveries. Continue reading

OZ Minerals Limited notes that a Class Action claim against it has been lodged in the Federal Court of Australia today by listed legal group IMF (Australia) Ltd. The action is on behalf of clients who purchased shares from Aug. 21, 2008 and to the end of November 2008.
OZ Minerals shareholders have been raising funds for a class action alleging that the miner failed to disclose the details of its debt. Continue reading
