Prominent Hill Mines Emergency Response team

OZ Minerals’ Prominent Hill Emergency Response Team took out the Best Overall Team at the recently held 2014 Mines Emergency Response competition over the weekend.

The 2014 Mines Emergency Response competition was held at a training facility in the Adelaide Hills. Prominent Hill competed against South Australian teams – Olympic Dam, Perilya, CBH Resources and Challenger.

The teams commenced the competition on Friday afternoon with a theory exam and then moved through Saturday and Sunday with practical exercises across seven events including; Vertical Ropes Rescue, Underground Search and Rescue, First Aid, Road Crash Rescue, Team Skills, Breathing Apparatus/Confined Space and Fire Fighting.

Brian Kilgariff, General Manager Prominent Hill said: “We are proud of the fantastic effort by the Prominent Hill Emergency Response Team. Their communication and teamwork throughout the competition was exceptional and contributed to being awarded the SACOME Perpetual Trophy for best overall team.”
