The Coober Pedy Fire Brigade has served our community for generations, protecting our homes, businesses, mining claims and lives when it matters most. Every member who volunteers their time deserves our sincere thanks and appreciation.
Like many country communities, however, we rely heavily on volunteers. While new residents are always welcome and many make an outstanding contribution, Coober Pedy would also benefit from more long-term residents and local property owners becoming involved.
Communities don’t stay strong by accident. They stay strong because ordinary people decide to become involved. If you’ve built a life, a home or a business in Coober Pedy, now is the time to help protect it.
The Brigade is holding a Special Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 19 August, with all positions to be declared vacant and filled.
You don’t need firefighting experience. Training and support are provided, and there are many ways to contribute, both on the fireground and behind the scenes.
Strong communities are built by people who step forward.
Please consider attending the AGM and finding out how you can help ensure the Coober Pedy Fire Brigade remains strong for many years to come.
