SUDDEN DEATH AT OODNADATTA

UPDATE:  5-7-2015     DEATH AT OODNADATTA DECLARED A MAJOR CRIME

Police are searching scrubland for a man following the death of a woman at Oodnadatta on Friday.

At 3.30pm on Friday 3 July a 34-year-old woman from Oodnadatta was taken to the Oodnadatta clinic by three people who are known to police. At the time the woman was unresponsive and died a short time later.

Police are currently searching scrubland north-east of the Oodnadatta township for the male suspect who was known to the woman.

The death has been declared a major crime with Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Branch, Port Augusta CIB and local police currently in Oodnadatta conducting the investigation.

Port Augusta CIB Detectives are flying to Oodnadatta tonight following the sudden death of a woman this afternoon.

Police were notified about 3.45pm that a woman had been presented at the Oodnadatta Medical Clinic but subsequently died.

Initial investigations are underway and more details will be released at a later stage.
