A unique Kashmir carpet set with an array of rare and expensive opals, which will be used to promote Australian opals in gemstone shows worldwide.

The president of the Opal Association, Paul Sedawie from OpalAuctions recently unveiled the world’s first Opal carpet.
The spectacular opal carpet consists of 400 Australian opals attached to a Kashmir carpet and framed. The opals are from all the main opal fields in Australia. It has numerous black opals from Lightning Ridge NSW, boulder opals from Queensland and crystal opals from Coober Pedy. The feature stone is a stunning 45.40 carat solid black opal from Lightning Ridge.

The carpet will be displayed in local and overseas gem and jewellery shows promoting Australian opals.
Australia produces some 95% of the world opals and Black Opal is one of the rarest gemstones in the world.
A Kashmir Rug is a handmade oriental rug that originated from Kashmir. It is woven flat without pile and entirely covered with embroidered patterns of colored yarns.
Retail value of this unique masterpiece is over $100,000 and the carpet is not for sale.
