Update in Monash murder investigation
Police are following ‘positive lines of inquiry’ into the murder of a man at Monash, in the state’s Riverland.

Detective Inspector Greg Hutchins, from the Major Crime Investigation Branch, said there had been eight calls to Crime Stoppers with information, with several positive lines of inquiry being pursued by detectives.

He confirmed that the 49-year-old man has been formally identified, but police have not released his details.

Police went to a property on Brown Road on Wednesday 27 November after the man’s father reported him missing.

Police are appealing to the public to help locate a black 2004 VZ Holden Commodore sedan with the South Australian registration number XLS408 (pictured) which is missing from the property.

The death of a man at Monash in the state’s Riverland has been declared a Major Crime and police are appealing for anyone with information in relation to the murder to come forward.

Police went to a property at 11am yesterday on Brown Road to check on the welfare of a man who had been reported missing by his father.

At the house, which is set 100m back from the road amid a fruit block, they located the body of a man aged in his late 40’s.

Detective Inspector Greg Hutchins, from the Major Crime Investigation Branch, said it was obvious from the circumstances he was found in that this was a suspicious death.

“We won’t disclose the cause of death at this time for investigational reasons, but I can say it was violent.”

It is believed the man had not been seen since Friday 22 November.
