HEALTH CLINIC SERVICES REMOVED FROM REMOTE TOWN MINTABIE WITHOUT CONSULTATION

Coober Pedy Regional Times

I would like to protest against the removal of clinic services from Mintabie, without any consultation or stated valid reasons.

Mintabie is very remote. There needs to be an open clinic because there are several motor cross riders who may have bad accidents, opal miners sick and elderly people and young children. The worst is that there are the most dangerous snakes in the world in the Mintabie region, and speedy treatment is essential to prevent a tragedy. At the moment, any treatment is at least 30 minutes away in Marla.

There has been no consultation with the community and some of the reasons mentioned about the lack of service were addressed by Mintabie residents, including pumping the septic and fixing the diesel problem.

Many of the Mintabie community members are upset because they helped the clinic build a safe and pleasant environment to house a staff member and now the facility is not used.

To help solve this problem perhaps Frontier Services, the clinic staff and the Mintabie community could sit down together and arrive at a solution which will benefit every body

Yours sincerely
