Speed cameras detected 158 motorists speeding in the Adelaide Hills last weekend as part of Operation Safe Hills, equating to over 12% of the 1227 vehicles that went through the speed cameras deployed for the operation were exceeding the speed limit.
Even more disappointing is that 4 cars were detected travelling at 40 km/h or more over the limit.
All the high speeds were detected on Saturday 28/12/13:
Tregarthen Road, Summertown;
BMW sedan 120 kph in the 80 zone
Ford focus hatch 131 kph in the 80 zone
Ford Falcon sedan 121 kph in the 80 zone
Greenhill Road, Balhannah;
white Commodore station wagon 123 kph in the 80 zone
20 or just over 12% of the detections were motor cycles.
Operation Safe Hills has been running since early December with a focus on improving motor cycle safety in the Adelaide Hills region and will continue through to the end of March 2014.
Police remind motorists that cameras will be deployed covertly during this operation, so the first you know you have been detected speeding may be a fine in the post.
