A tragic road accident took the lives a 20 year old man and 19 year old man both from Port Lincoln in a single car rollover on the Stuart Highway – 5th May 2010.
The crash occurred at 3.45pm, about 130km north of Coober Pedy.
Three other occupants of the vehicle were conveyed to the Coober Pedy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and shock.
Coober Pedy/Marla Police, along with Major Crash Investigation Section attended.
Also in attendance were SA Ambulance Coober Pedy & Marla Ses/CFS.
Senior Sgt Greg Burns of Coober Pedy Police told the Coober Pedy Regional Times, “this is a very tragic incident which has had a devastating impact upon the lives of those involved, their families, and the emergency services personnel who attended at the scene.
At this very early time in the investigation it is too early to give a cause regarding the accident. Major Crash Investigation Section are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision”.
Members of the Far North Communities extend their deepest condolences to families and friends of the victims of this tragic accident.
The State’s road toll stands at 52 compared to 43 at the same time last year.
