
Coober Pedy Area School girls - winning volleyball team
In week 6 of term 3, fourteen Coober Pedy Area School students travelled to Whyalla to compete in the regional Volleyball tournament. Host school, Stuart High arranged for the students to stay in the school library to sleep over and rest up for heats the following day.
The Volleyball tournament was held on the Thursday with each of the teams playing the two opposing teams in the heats in their pool.
The Coober Pedy boys lost their first game 2-1 to Whyalla High, and lost their second game 2-1 to Samaritan College. However Coober Pedy boys won their play off for 5th against Port Augusta High 3-0.
The Coober Pedy girls won each of their heats, beating Whyalla High 2-1, and Samaritan College 2-1.
In the Grand Final, Coober Pedy Area School girls played Streaky Bay Area School and WON 3-0!
The girls will now continue training, as with their success they will be travelling to Adelaide in Week 1, Term 4 to compete against the other regional winners!

Eilish Kiely-Kavanagh, Stacey Mibus, Tatiana Lyrtzis, Kateryna Karpenko, Zoe Crisa, Katina Georgianoudis, Leah Knueppel-Nagy and Mariah Doblado made up the girls team.
The boys team was made up of Tom Smith-Absalom, Kyal Forman, Jy Burns, Matt Cotter, Michael Corlett and Patrick Kiely-Kavanagh.
