Mintabie students Lachlan and Kale - a final burst of speed in the Fun Run
On Friday, August 7, 2009, 10 students and staff from Mintabie Area School held a Golden Circle School Fun Run and Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off. Through participation in the combined event they raised $ 307.00 for Angel Flight and $307.00 for The Heart Foundation.

Mintabie students ran enthusiastically for the fundraising run
Students sought sponsorship from family, friends and members of the local community in order to raise money for the chosen charities.
In a major effort to support local communities and families across Australia, Mintabie Area School is now in with a chance to share in $16,000 cash courtesy of CUA (Credit Union Australia). CUA Acting Chief Executive Officer Rob Nicholls said “Our sponsorship of the Fun Run program is an opportunity to not only support our schools financially but to encourage kids to get outdoors and have a bit of fun through this sporting activity.”

As well as the Fun Run the Mintabie kids participated in a ” Jump Off” in raising money for charity. The Fun Run involved one or two laps of a 2 ½ km track around the Lake. Lionel Lester won this event with a time of 28 minutes for two laps.
After recess students and preschoolers did a Jump Off circuit which included various jumping events using skipping ropes, hoops, elastics and a mini tramp. The winner of the most consecutive skips competition was Tahlia Lester.
Sue Britt, Mintabie Area School Teacher said, “The overall amount of over $600 collected, was amazing considering there were only 10 students in a community of about 100 people”.

Congratulations again and thanks to all who participated and all who encouraged the runners and jumpers. Half of the money donated will go to the Heart Foundation and the other half to Angel Flight. Well done, Mintabie Area School
