Police are warning local businesses to watch out for counterfeit notes when accepting notes of high denominations, following a counterfeit $50 detected on Friday in Tintinara.
On Friday, 22 November a customer tendered $50 to make purchases at a roadhouse on Dukes Highway, Tintinara. It was later discovered the $50 was counterfeit.
This incident follows four counterfeit offences in Mount Gambier since August, where $100 and $50 counterfeit notes were used at businesses.
