4.) Council Audit Report – unsustainable. Debt has reached $19.3m
5.) Public Forum – COMMUNITY CONCERNS OPEN FOR DISCUSSION
• Rate Increases (ongoing) • Water & Electricity charges (ongoing)
• Communication with the council is progressing
• Wasted funds: Incl: $700,000 to lawyers, plus council hours spent trying to bankrupt an elected member/whistleblower. The Community is asking for information on the documents due to rates/charges increases.
• Council’s use of consultants/lawyers/non-local employees. Why are we still paying consultants when the bottom line has become steadily worse?
• Poorly conceived development attempts likely to affect local enterprises and investments. Impacts?
• How did BHP basketball/tennis courts project become a community responsibility when the community was not consulted?
• Council’s community consultation practices?
• What services are available for community support? We have been contacted by a service that is accessible to remote areas. TBA
• Encourage the council to use local services and talent, to help stimulate our local economy.
